A Tribute to Italian Modernism is a landmark sale that spans more than a century of design. This collection brings together rare 19th-century antiques, the refined geometry of Art Deco, and the bold experimentation of mid-century modern and postwar Italian design. It is both a homage to history and a celebration of the designers who forever changed the way we live with art and furniture.
Highlights include works by Afra & Tobia Scarpa, Paolo Buffa, Marco Zanuso, Osvaldo Borsani, Gio Ponti, Luigi Caccia Dominioni, Angelo Mangiarotti, and Carlo De Carli, whose visionary pieces embody the heart of Italian modernism. Their designs, alongside the creations of Vittorio Introini, Gastone Rinaldi, Tito Agnoli, and Franco Bettonica, reveal the extraordinary interplay of craftsmanship, material, and innovation that defined Italian interiors throughout the 20th century.
This sale also recognizes the global dialogue that Italian design inspired. From Florence Knoll’s refined modernism to Milo Baughman’s American sophistication, from Arne Jacobsen and Fritz Hansen’s Danish icons to Jean Prouvé and Charlotte Perriand’s French modernist masterpieces, these works illustrate how Italian modernism stood at the center of an international movement that continues to influence interiors today. Maison Jansen, Bruno Mathsson, De Sede, Willy Rizzo, Olivier Mourgue, and many more join the conversation in this curated collection of timeless design.
