This pair of "Goblet" or "Chalice" planters is an iconic mid-century modern design by the pioneering Swiss neo-functionalist designer Willy Guhl. Produced by the Swiss manufacturing company Eternit. Left planter retains much of its smooth, light cream or off-white surface finish. It shows relatively minimal wear, with just a few light scuffs, minor superficial dirt, and slight chipping along the very bottom edge where it meets the floor. Right planter displays a heavily weathered, rustic organic finish. Decades of continuous exposure to moisture and soil have covered the porous fiber-cement in a rich, textured patina of dried moss, lichen, and dark grey-green mineral staining. Height: 21 in.
